Avid NewsCutter XP 5.0 and Avid Mojo Now Available; Avid DNA Adds Powerful Media Processing Capabilities to Industry-Leading Editing System

TEWKSBURY, Mass., Sep 29, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced the worldwide availability of the Avid® NewsCutter® XP 5.0 system and the Avid Mojo™ Digital Nonlinear Accelerator™ (Avid DNA™). The new version offers advanced news editing capabilities such as quick record, providing journalists and editors with a robust, fast news editing solution for either the suite or the field. When paired with the Avid Mojo accelerator, the portable member of the Avid DNA family, NewsCutter XP 5.0 software benefits from the industry's only hybrid architecture designed to leverage the power of both host-based software capabilities and hardware-based acceleration.

"NewsCutter XP 5.0 is an ideal solution for broadcasters. Its news-specific features and portability make it a powerful tool that has unmatched editing speed and reliability," said David Schleifer, director of Avid Broadcast. "There is no other news editing solution on the market - in the newsroom or in the field - with this type of functionality and flexibility. And what makes it more compelling is how easily it integrates with Avid Unity for News as well as an entire Avid end-to-end digital news production workflow."

The new version includes enhanced integration with both the Avid iNEWS™ and AP ENPS newsroom systems, AAF and MXF support, Marquee real-time 3D titling, and support for 50Mbit MPEG IMX, in addition to DV25 and DV50.
